Millers progress to the next round of the league challenge cup.
It was the third and final part of a string of cup games in a week where the Millers took on Radford, Shirebrook & Squires Gate across 3 different competitions
The Millers competed well in the first half of this encounter but the cutting edge was lacking. Sam Marshall and Tunde Owolabi were looking potent threats on the goal and Owolabi could have scored in the first half when cutting in from the left wing but his effort saved from a tight angle. New Mills didn't have many clear cut chances in the half.
Just after the second half the Millers stepped up their game took the lead through a Ryan Hibbert free kick just outside the edge of the box which went into the top corner just outside the keeper's reach.
Owolabi and Douglas-Pringle had some great chances to put Squires Gate to bed but failed to convert these chances. The Millers were rarely threatened and was one of the most comfortable performances of the season. New Mills ran out 1-0 and progressed to the next round to face Silsden at home later this month.
